What is Secure Boot?
Secure boot establishes a trusting relationship between the UEFI BIOS and the software it eventually launches (such as bootloaders, OSes, or UEFI drivers and utilities). Once Secure Boot is enabled and configured, only software or firmware signed with approved keys is allowed to execute. Although Secure Boot can improve system security, people have some concerns that Microsoft’s Secure Boot function will make it difficult to install Linux or other systems on a Windows machine.
If your computer/laptop comes with Windows 10 as the in-built OS, it might as well have the "Secure Boot" function enabled by default. And with "Secure Boot" enabled, you won’t be able to boot your computer from a CD-ROM drive or USB memory stick, Network Interface Card, etc.
In order to install our Evren OS, you may need to disable the Secure Boot in BIOS first before plugging in a USB memory stick with the installer in it.
⚠️ If Secure Boot has already been disabled, you can skip this article to proceed with Evren OS
installation.
Please follow the steps below to disable Secure Boot.
1. Turn on the PC/laptop by pressing the Power button.
2. During the initial startup screen, press ESC, F9, F8, F10, or F12. (Depending on the company
that created your version of BIOS, a menu may appear) Boot menu keys per manufacturer Please
navigate to the Boot menu to select the device to boot from once the BIOS screen appears.
Note: The menu may resemble one of the below options. Please proceed with the respective steps
based on your current BIOS settings.
UEFI Enabled, Secure Boot Enabled
1. If the Boot mode is set to UEFI and Secure Boot is ON, please navigate to Other Options at the
bottom and press BIOS Setup.
2. Under Secure Boot, please untick Secure Boot Enable on the right side of the screen and click Apply.
UEFI Enabled, Secure Boot Disabled
1. If the Boot mode is set to UEFI and Secure Boot is OFF, no changes are required.
UEFI Disabled
1. If you are seeing the screen menu below, you will need to enable UEFI.
2. To enable UEFI, please navigate to General -> Boot Sequence using the mouse. Select the small
circle next to UEFI. Then click Apply, then OK on the menu that pops up, and press Exit. Your
computer will automatically reboot. 
Disable Legacy Boot
1. Navigate to General -> Advanced Boot Options and uncheck the box next to Enable Legacy Option
ROMs. Click Apply in the bottom right.
